Data & Ownership

Your Data, Your Domain. Period.

HoneyBun deploys onto your WordPress install, on your domain, on your hosting. Here’s exactly what that means — and what happens in every scenario you’re wondering about.

What You Own

Everything. The pages, the content, the schema markup, the internal link architecture, the CSS, the PHP — all of it lives on your WordPress install. HoneyBun is a deployment platform. Once pages are live on your domain, they’re yours. There is no proprietary lock-in. There is no HoneyBun-hosted CMS you depend on. Your site runs on standard WordPress with standard hosting. If you opened your file manager right now, you’d see every file.

What Happens If You Cancel

You keep everything. Every page stays live. Every ranking you’ve built stays indexed. Your domain, your hosting, your content — none of it changes. The only thing that stops is the ongoing optimization, monitoring, and new page deployments that your monthly subscription covers. Your site doesn’t go dark. Your pages don’t get pulled. You walk away with a fully built, fully ranking WordPress site.

What Happens If HoneyBun Shuts Down

Same answer. Your site is on your domain, on your hosting. HoneyBun doesn’t host your site. We don’t control your DNS. We don’t hold your content on our servers. If HoneyBun ceased operations tomorrow, your website would continue running exactly as it does today. You’d lose access to ongoing optimization and the operator dashboard — but the site itself, the pages, the rankings, the schema — that’s all yours. It lives on your server, not ours.

What We Access and Why

During active deployment and optimization, HoneyBun accesses:

  • Your WordPress admin — to deploy pages, update schema, manage internal links, and install updates. Access is via a dedicated admin user account created during onboarding.
  • Google Search Console — to monitor indexing, track rankings, identify crawl issues, and measure performance. Connected via standard GSC verification on your domain.
  • Google Analytics 4 — to track traffic, user behavior, and conversion events on deployed pages.
  • Google Business Profile — to ensure NAP consistency, monitor reviews, and optimize your local listing in coordination with deployed pages.

We do not access your hosting control panel, your DNS settings, your email, your billing, or any system unrelated to SEO deployment and monitoring. Access credentials are stored securely and revoked immediately upon cancellation if you request it.

What We Don’t Do

  • We don’t hold your content hostage behind a proprietary CMS.
  • We don’t charge an export fee or “migration fee” if you leave.
  • We don’t inject tracking scripts, affiliate links, or third-party monetization on your domain.
  • We don’t modify your homepage, about page, or any existing content unless you explicitly ask us to.
  • We don’t make changes to your DNS, domain registrar, or hosting configuration.

Can I Export My Site?

You don’t need to export it. It’s already on your server. There is no export step because there’s nothing hosted on our side to export from. Your WordPress install is the source of truth. If you want a full backup, use any standard WordPress backup tool — UpdraftPlus, BlogVault, or your host’s built-in backup. Everything HoneyBun deployed is standard WordPress pages, posts, and theme files.

How Is My Data Protected?

All access to your WordPress admin, GSC, GA4, and GBP is handled through secure authentication. We do not store your passwords in plaintext. Dashboard data shown in the HoneyBun operator portal is pulled via authenticated API connections (primarily Google APIs) and is not cached permanently on our servers. If you cancel, API connections are disconnected and no residual data remains in our system after 30 days.
